This is a very rare species on mainland Britain, with modern records confined to a few sites in East Anglia. It is more frequent on the Channel islands, especially Jersey. It seems to like lush, often marshy habitats where these occur close to dryer heathland, and much foraging seems to take place on plants like Fleabane, thistles, Water Mint and brambles.
