89) My Responsibilty by Renée Kilburn - companion to 89bee Melitta dimidiata, the Sainfoin Bee

650 GBP

Our lives depend on bees and other insects to pollinate the plants around us. If they can do their jobs the flowers are abundant. If not the land lay barren. This bee collects pollen and nectar almost entirely from the Sainfoin flower and when not at work, they take shelter in the other flowers on dull days. The bee I am representing lives mainly on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire where Sainfoin, Knapweed, Bell Flowers and Mallow grow amongst other plants. Some colonies have already been lost so we all need to take responsibility in making sure that trend does not continue.
