16bee) Queen Red-tailed Bumblebee

Queen Red-tailed Bumblebee
2x actual size

Unlike many of the bees in the exhibition, the Red-tailed Bumblebee is a very common bumblebee - thank goodness there's a bit of good news somewhere.  It emerges early in the spring and feeds on flowers right through to the autumn. It can be found in gardens, farmland, woodland edges, hedgerows and heathland: anywhere there are flowers to feed on.  But we need to look after this planet to make sure we don't jeopardise it.

Vintage clockmaker’s container, embroidery thread, wool, copper leaf, vintage Kamibari gold thread, beads
